Why should I come to therapy?
Maybe you should and maybe you shouldn’t. Only you can decide if therapy is the right choice for you at this time. But, I will say this: therapy isn’t an expense, it is an investment. It is an investment in yourself and your future. Not only can therapy alleviate suffering and stress from mental health disorders, but it can also have a significant impact on your long term physical health. “Toxic stress can change brain development and affect how the body responds to stress. Toxic stress is linked to chronic health problems, mental illness, and substance misuse.” Adults with a high ACE (adverse childhood experience) score are known to be at significantly higher risk of heart attack, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease, stroke and more. How long will I be in therapy?
The length of treatment varies widely dependent upon each persons needs and wants. Some clients choose to stay in therapy for years, while others are in-and-out in a few months. I will never recommend treatment length beyond what is clinically necessary.
Do you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance of any kind. I am happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurer for potential reimbursement.
What is a superbill?
A superbill is a detailed invoice outlining the services a client received. The client submits the superbill directly to the insurer, giving the insurer all the information they need to pay the claim. Each insurer is different in how much they will reimburse.
Can I use my HSA card?
Absolutely! This is often a great option for most individuals.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
I reserve a handful of spots on my caseload for those in need of a sliding scale. If you require sliding scale assistance, please inquire if a spot is available.
How are your rates determined?
My rates are comparable to other therapists in the area with my licensing, specialized training and years of experience. It is important to consider that while you may only think of me once a week for 45 minutes during session, I am continually thinking about you. I attend trainings throughout the year to ensure I am up to date on research and clinical skills so that you receive the best care possible. I spend hours writing notes, treatment planning, researching, and coordinating care with your other health care professionals. My rate covers much more than simply our face to face time. I like to think that I go above and beyond for my clients, and my rate reflects that dedication.
What are your viral illness precautions?

-Auto-Cleaning Ionization system by GPS Air.
-Virtual sessions are available in the case of illness or direct exposure.

Do you prescribe medication?
No. Only a medical doctor or nurse practitioner is able to prescribe psychotropic medication. I am happy to talk with your medication provider regarding any recommendations or observations that may be relevant to your medication needs.
What can I expect on my first visit?
Intake sessions are generally 90 minutes long and cover your mental health history, medical history, family history and reason for seeking services. Prior to your intake, I ask that you fill out paperwork, including a questionnaire. I review all of this paperwork prior to session so as to prevent you from having to re-tell your story for the millionth time. I come prepared to discuss your case from the get-go and aim for you to feel comfortable, hopeful and as if you learned something from our very first session.
Do you offer virtual therapy sessions?
Yes.
Do you offer in person therapy sessions?
Yes.
Can I bring my children with me?
If you are a new or nursing mother, you may bring your infant to session if absolutely necessary. However, due to the confidential nature of therapy, older children are not permitted in session or to be left unattended in the waiting room.
